Historically surveys have been paper based, then with the opportunity to survey the masses via the internet; online surveys became the norm. But what about your company surveys, how compliant are your employees willing to fill in an online survey?
And what percentage of completed forms are you willing to settle on to get the answers you are looking for?
If I was to say between 10 -20%, would you be satisfied.
Well that number may be acceptable for research companies and global marketers, but what if your company size was less than 1000, would you accept this.
The Ryde City Council in Sydney has taken another approach to get 100% of its employees to complete their survey by using interactive keypad technology. But not only have they been able to accomplish this they have taken the opportunity to create a “Have Your Say Day”, where long service awards were handed out, presentations by the General Manager and staff were given on the performance of the council, where is now and where it is heading. The day also has a social aspect where department videos were shown and a BBQ lunch was provided to all.
This is the second time this day was run and the interactive keypad survey helped to turn the day into another success for the council. The survey which was written by Voice Project at Macquarie University is then given the data collected from the keypad software for anaylsis.
“It was great to observe yesterday and view the reaction to the questions. I think the other key thing to stand out about the method was the high response rate received to the demographic questions compared to online and paper methods. We will definitely keep this method in mind for our other clients.” Frank Basile | MOrg Psych, BA Psych Hons | Senior Consultant, Voice Project,
More and more councils are using this technology for both internal and external meetings. Community opinion drives what councils do and having the community express themselves with full anonymity at community forums brings the council and community closer together to achieve the right results for all.
